Tonight’s basketball games between Lyman and Mountain View will be for more than wins and losses.
The teams are coming together for a “Pink Out” to benefit Bridger Valley Relay for Life.
Donations will be accepted at the door to benefit Relay for Life. There will be a silent dessert auction. Shirts will be for sale and some lucky youth fans will receive pink shirts autographed by both teams. Players will wear pink socks during the game.
The Pink Out was the idea of Lyman girls basketball coach Tom Wells.
“I’m trying to get the community to come together. The rivalry is a good thing. Hatred is not,” Wells said. “What better idea to come together over than fighting cancer.”
Jenny Aimone said the Relay for Life Committee was thrilled.
She said one of the committee’s areas of focus was getting youth more involved. Relay for Life will be offering free registration for youth teams.
“We are all so very, very excited about this,” Aimone said. “I think this is a great idea, especially to get both communities, Lyman and Mountain View, involved. That’s something Relay has tried to do — to get us all united for one cause.”
