MOUNTAIN VIEW – The Bridger Valley Joint Powers Board decided to seek more information from state agencies before taking official action on the turn over of water right by users in the Blacks Fork Water District.
This action was taken earlier this month at their meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the water treatment plant. The action followed a lengthy discussion. The board reviewed five draft resolutions, which would govern action on water right transfers, how to deal with the Blacks Fork Water District and to set the procedures for future water hookups. The resolutions were based on proposals presented by board member Gary Hutchinson and on a proposal presented by the Blacks Fork Water District at last month’s meeting.
After a considerable discussion on the drafted resolutions, the board tabled the water rights issue until more information could be obtained. Plans are to contact the State Engineer’s Office and the Attorney General’s office for further clarification on what can be done and what the legal parameters of the board’s action would include.
