EVANSTON – The Uinta County Commissioners didn’t accept a proposal for a landfill rate study at their regular meeting on Aug. 20.
The $7,500 study was requested by Clay Baird, solid waste coordinator.
As readers know, the county landfills have been in the public eye for a considerable length of time due to the change in operators, the prospect of turning the Valley landfill into a transport facility and other issues.
The commissioners rejected the motion to accept the quote from Inberg-Miller Engineers, who have several locations in Wyoming. Commissioners Craig Welling and Leonard Hysell raised concerns over the price being made public while no other proposal requests were sought and the necessity of the study based on incomplete information from the state.
In other action, the commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution, 13-23, which authorized the Sweetwater County Attorney’s Office to investigate and proceed in matters where the Uinta County Attorney’s Office has a conflict of interest.
