Lyman golfers compete at State last weekend

LYMAN – The Lyman Eagles placed 10th with a 758 in the 3A state golf tournament on Sept. 21-22, held in Worland.

Thirteen teams competed with Jackson earning the top slot by 41 strokes over Lander.

Travis Toomer finished back-to-back rounds of 90, which earned him the 27th place for the Lyman Eagles.

Lyman High School’s golf team also participated earlier in the WHSAA Conference tournament facing great competition and setting their sights on state competition.

With an overall score of 769 from the five players, the Eagles took seventh place in the contest.

Travis Toomer, a junior, led the Eagles in the contest, finishing in a tie for 19th place with an 87 and an 88 for a total of 175. He was followed by fellow junior Saylem Phillips, who scored a 103 and an 89 for a total of 192, landing him in 23rd place in the contest. Eagle players Cole Twitchell and Tyson Gillies found themselves in a 3-way tie with each other and another player from Star Valley. Twitchell golfed a 96 and a 108 for a total of 204. Gillies golfed a 97 and a 107 for the same total. They took 28th place. Dillon Batt also tied for his place (31st) with a 98 and a 107 for a total of 205.
