LYMAN – Lyman’s Lady Eagles volleyball team took on the 1A Cokeville Panthers in Cokeville and defeated the Panthers.
The Cokeville program is known for its solid tradition and constant success. Lyman’s team went into the game ranked at a tie for #3 in their conference.
The Lady Eagles easily defeated the Panthers in the first set, taking a 25-16 win. However, the Panthers fought back hard and were able to come up with a 19-25 win over the Eagles in the second set. In the third set, the Eagles were able to squeak by with a narrow, 25-22 victory.
With a 2-1 set lead over Cokeville, the Lady Eagles had the chance to claim the match in the fourth set. The Panthers claimed a large lead early in the game, and it seemed the game would be played to all five sets. With the leadership of team senior Tiffani Dennis, who delivered six solo stuff blocks and one assisted stuff block in the fourth set alone, the Eagles were able to gain the momentum and win the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth.
Dennis ended the game with 10 stuff blocks, one behind Lyman High School’s record.
The team will compete in Cody this weekend at the 3A Conference Duels.
