Special Olympics Wyoming 2012 Fall Tournament

BRIDGER VALLEY Athletes from the Bridger Valley area and one from Evanston competed in Casper in the annual Special Olympics Fall Tournament last month.

The athletes who competed were Natalie Redden, Logan Bluemel, Clay Cantlin, Jayden Heltz, Tanner Spatig, Zachary Spenneberg, Adam Walker, Ammon Walker, Benjamin Walker, James Walker, Joseph Walker and Samual Walker.

These athletes are required to train and practice for the events in addition to participating in the area games prior to the tournament. The events these athletes competed in include equestrian, bowling and cycling. Upon returning back to Bridger Valley 15 medals from gold to bronze were awarded to the athletes, every athlete receiving at least one medal.

Bowling: Bluemel, gold; Cantlin, gold; Spenneberg, gold; J. Walker, gold; S. Walker, silver; A, Walker, silver; Spatig, bronze; Am. Walker, bronze; Heltz, bronze; B. Walker, bronze; Jo. Walker, bronze.

Cycling: Redden, two bronze. Equestrian: Cantlin, gold and bronze.

Competing in the area and seasonal games is not possible without the volunteer coaches, parent involvement and community and school support. The coaches volunteer their time and talents to train and support the athletes. he coaches are Aubrey Anderson, Rhonda Boren and Elizabeth Watson.
