MOUNTAIN VIEW – The Mountain View Lady Buffs pulled off a big victory last weekend as they knocked off the Powell Panthers, an opponent from their conference, in a tight-knit battle.

The game against Powell took place last Friday, Jan. 4, on the Buffs home floor, where they clenched a 33-30 win over the Panthers. The Lady Buffs fell to the Cody Broncs, 32-42, the next day.

Mckell Hadlock led the team in scoring in both games with 16 against Powell and 17 against Cody.

“After putting in an intense week of practice,” Hadlock said, “it was nice to see where we matched up against conference teams. Getting a win against Powell was a huge confidence boost for our team. In playing against Cody, we figured out how to play against them, and what we can do next time to get a win.”

“It was nice to get a win against Powell, and we played a good game against Cody,” said Madison Vitt, who had six rebounds in the Cody game. “Our effort is definitely there, and now it’s starting to come together.”

In the Powell game, one crucial aspect of the Lady Buffs’ game was their efficiency from the free throw line where they sunk nine of 14 shots.
