LYMAN – The Lyman Eagles faced two big opponents last weekend, and were able to pull away with one win.
They first faced Jackson and pulled away with a 57-45 win. However, in the game to determine the state 3A leader, the Eagles fell behind in the second half and took a 43-59 loss.
In the game against Jackson, the team was led in scoring by Kyle Stokes, with 21. Cisco Taylor followed close behind with 20. Tyson Gillies led the team in rebounding, with nine. He was followed closely by Skyler Walker, with eight, and Marty Rollins, with seven.
“Jackson came out shooting the ball well,” Said Gillies. “But, our teamwork and dedication throughout the game brought us out on top.”
In the big game against the Star Valley Braves, the Lyman team claimed the early lead as they scored 13 points to the Braves’ seven in the first quarter. However, the Braves came back hard, claiming more points than the Eagles in all of the last three quarters. The Braves owned the fourth quarter where they outscored the Eagles 26-12.
Against Star Valley, the team was led in rebounding by Walker with eight. Stokes followed with six. Stokes was lead scorer for the Eagles in the game, accumulating 19 points. He was followed by Cisco Taylor with 14.
