Lyman Eagles step up to deliver a loss to #1 ranked team

LYMAN – The Lyman Eagles were pitted against the #1 ranked Star Valley Braves last weekend and were able to retain a lead right up to the last moment, claiming the win over the Braves, 54-53.

Going into the game, the Braves were ranked at the top of the conference and leading the state with no conference losses. The Eagles put it all on the line and came out with a win.

The next night, the Eagles came back again with the same intensity to deliver a 68-52 win over Jackson.

“Playing on the road is always a challenge,” said Tyson Gillies, about the game against Star Valley. “But as a team, we held our composure through the game for the win.”

Gillies pulled down eight rebounds and led the team in rebounding against Star Valley. He was able to put in the shot at the end of the game that gave the Eagles the final lead over the Braves. Gillies also contributed seven rebounds and 12 points to the Eagles’ efforts against Jackson. Skyler Walker led the team in rebounding, with 11.

Cisco Taylor put on a show in the Eagles’ game against Jacksonscoring a whopping 34 points, as well as, contributing five assists and seven steals.

“We knew how important the game was, and knew we needed to come out and play with the intensity we did against Star Valley,” Taylor said.

Against Star Valley, Taylor scored 16 points and contributed five steals and five assists, falling just behind teammate Kyle Stokes who led the team with 20 points, five assists and five rebounds.
