LYMAN – Seven high school track teams competed at the Lyman Invitational at Lyman High School March 26.
Lyman, Mountain View, Evanston, Kemmerer, Green River, Rock Springs and Manila High Schools took to the field.
For the boys track competition, Green River took first with 169 points, closely followed by Evanston with 153 points. Lyman came in third with 91, and Mountain View fifth with 83. Mania ended in last place with 3 points.
For the girls, Green River took first with 146.5, followed by Evanston with 121.5. Mountain View was fourth with 80.5 points and Lyman fifth with 80.0 points. Last place went to the Kemmerer girls with 45.5 points.
Bobby and Ann Wingeleth made their marks in the jumping events. Also, the top three places in the boys long jump went to Lyman and Mountain View athletes. In the girls long jump, Lyman nailed the first two spots.
In the running events, the Wingeleths also took some top spots. In another running event, Mountain View’s Aubrey Newton took first place in the 300 hurdles. Mountain View’s 4x400 team also took first place.
Other Valley athletes also captured some of the top slots in the girls pole vault and the girls 800.
