RIVERTON For the first time since the four Bridger Valley teams have been in the 3A, all four qualify for state in basketball with Mountain View getting a second and third seed.

The Mountain View Lady Buffs have been outstanding this season often overcoming odds with their great defensive play. In the 3A West, the Lady Buffs are number one in defense, and this showed at the regional tournament held in Riverton last week.

The good news for the Lady Buffs on their game against Star Valley was the worst they could do was clinch the number two seed for the state tournament, and that is what they did.

The young men from Mountain View were probably given no chance by anyone looking at the regional tournament to be able to qualify for state. The Buffs proved the doubters wrong as they came into the regionals with determination. Their play came straight from the heart, and they were able to come home with their heads up high.

The Buffs faced a scrappy Pinedale Wranglers team for the chance to be the number three seed at state. For the better part of the game Mountain View held their own against Pinedale and the two teams battled hard. Fatigue may have finally caught up to the Buffs as they ran out of gas and fell to the Wranglers, 52-44. Senior Jon Cromer had a spectacular game, scoring 25 points. The Buffs were able to rest easier however knowing their season will continue at state as the 3A number four seed.
