Arnold W. Vandenberg, 81, Rock Springs, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. A resident of Rock Springs, and former long time resident of Fort Bridger, Vandenberg died following a lengthy illness.

He was born on March 10, 1931, in Baldwin, Wis., the son of the late John J. and Dorothy S. Fredrick Vandenberg.

He attended schools in Baldwin, Wis.

He married Connie J. McGraw in Lakeland, Minn., on Jan. 18, 1952.

Arnie was a business owner in Bridger Valley for 26 years. He owned a motel, trailer court and restaurant. He also drove truck for Hines Transfer and received the Million Mile Award for safe driving many times.

He owned a car lot where he bought and sold many cars over the years. He was also the Fort Bridger fire chief for many years and was on the water and sewer Board.

His interests included spending time with his family especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan and loved to watch western movies. He also enjoyed collecting guns and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years Connie Vandenberg of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one son Michael Vandenberg and wife Johanna of West Jordan, Utah; daughters, Joni (Stevee) DePaola, of Rock Springs; and Barbara (Robert) Tucker; Sherri (Dan) Jackson, all of Green River; sisters, Joanne Nelson (Victor), Danberry, Wis.; and Sharon Wolske (Roger), St. Croix Falls, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son-in-law, Jay, and one great-grandson, Trenton.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the Rock Springs Evangelical Free Church, 125 Firestone, Rock Springs. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services. Cremation will follow.

The family of Arnold W. Vandenberg respectfully suggests donations in his memory be made to the Rock Springs Evangelical Free Church, 125 Firestone, Rock Springs, or the Rock Springs Food Bank, 90 Center Street, Rock Springs, Wy 82901.
