Joe Galvin Pastor, BV Assembly of God
There is an old adage “that for evil to exist, all that needs to happen is for good men to do nothing,” I can see where this nation’s current crime wave has gone from the streets of the “hood” to “Pennsylvania Avenue.” Truthfully, we are not exempt from all that is taking place across this once great nation.
“WE THE PEOPLE” is how our greatest document starts out, but where have they gone? Each time some immoral standard is forced on us, we recede in full abandon, no hope, no peace, we just take it.
Things that would not have even been considered acceptable yesterday are common place. Worse than this, those who are being portrayed as the cause for the problems, are those who have worked for family values, for a sense of morality, teaching our kids hard work is better than a handout. The nation that cries out for tolerance, has become the most intolerant, toward the Christian believer’s. They use the church as a scapegoat for every for everything from homophobia to racial bigotry. They cry out for a woman’s right to choose convenience over a life, as though it were some righteous mandate.
Yet the quiet majority sits back and allows yet even more ridiculous interventions into our lives to take place. In years past we would have been up in arms over the way our Government is not working. Where are the marches, the town meetings, the outcry of those of us who are at the verge of despair over our nation’s plight.
If we continue to stand silently by, we will have no right to stand at all when all morality is legislated, and the job of raising our families is in the hands of the government. If you don’t believe it, if you think I’m an alarmist, then you need to see what recently took place in California. Where the Supreme court demanded schools to let children, K-!2 to choose their sexual orientation, when using restrooms, and even providing counseling for young children to help them determine their preference, boy, girl or transgender.
We here in Wyoming are being asked to just openly accept the new Federal Core program for our schools, resigning responsibility for all areas of instruction and curriculum to a Government that can’t even agree on what size table to use when holding a conference. You may agree with it, or not, but at least read it! Talk to your local city councilmen; see what is being done on your streets. Meet with your state legislatures; ask what’s going on in Cheyenne. The last congressional meeting was held in a small office at the courthouse, with lots of empty seats. We in the church have a right to be heard and it is time we are. We do not give up our citizenship when we become people of faith
When good people stand by and do nothing, anything can happen, and be sure it will
