EVANSTON – Action at the Uinta County Commission meeting on Oct. 2, correlates to a contract let by the Wyoming Highway Department for the replace of the old Lincoln Highway bridge on County Road 221, north of Fort Bridger.
Some time ago, there was a local effort for the bridge to be maintained due to its historical value. After some meetings held in Fort Bridger, examination of the bridge by the Highway Department, and concerns of safety for people using the bridge, it was determined the best solution was to replace the bridge.
At a recent meeting of the Highway Department, the contract for replacing the bridge was awarded to Cheyenne’s Reiman Corp. low bid of $642,000.
In conjunction, the Uinta County Commission signed a letter to participate with the Highway Department for the bridge’s replacement. The county portion of the cost will be approximately $157,000.
The Commission also continued to move forward on both upgrades for the new fair grounds, east of Evanston, and the county landfills.
A bid from Allied Construction and Development of $524,777.49 was accepted by the Commission for the extension and installation of water and fiber optic lines to the new fairgrounds. An additional aspect of the fairgrounds included accepting a $7,860 bid by Circle B Irrigation to install a water meter and trough at the new fairgrounds.
