Posted: Friday, Nov 9th, 2012

Lyman quarterback Bansen Bradshaw, no. 44, runs for a nice gain during state football action last Friday in Lyman. Bradshaw was very impressive on both offense and defense as he led the Eagles to a 32-6 victory over the Newcastle Dogies.

LYMAN – Lyman High School’s undefeated football team conquered the Newcastle Dogies last weekend in the second round of the Wyoming 2A Football Playoffs.

In the other semi-finals game being played in the state, the Lovell Bulldogs were able to pull off a come-from-behind victory against Big Horn, pitting the Bulldogs against the Eagles this weekend in the State Championship. The match-up is identical to the state championship last year. The Eagles look for revenge after their 2011 defeat against Lovell. Lyman defeated Lovell earlier this season.

In the game against Newcastle, the Eagles had a successful game both through the air and on the ground, with 192 rushing yards and 145 passing yards.

On the other side of the football, the Eagles had several players achieve impressive statistics in the game. Bradshaw led the defensive efforts of the Eagles with an accumulation of 25 points, including four tackles, which caused the other team to lose yardage.

Rolling into the state championship game, Lyman will attempt to turn around last year’s 13-21 loss to Lovell. Last year the Eagles had only two losses, both to Lovell – one in regular season and one at state.

This year at state the Eagles will face the Bulldogs for the fourth time in two years.

The Bulldogs had better be ready and better not underestimate the Lyman Eagles. The Eagles held their opponents to just 18 points on the season and held Lovell to less than 200 yards in the game earlier this season.
