Valley grapplers compete in EI

EVANSTON – Wrestling teams from both Lyman and Mountain View competed at the Evanston Invitational Wrestling Tournament last week on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3.

Known as the “EI,” 30 teams from varsity, junior varsity and freshman squads competed. Eight matches took place simultaneously to accommodate the wrestlers.

The EI is touted as one of the largest tournaments staged in the Intermountain West.

Weigh-ins were followed by the seeding meeting.attended by all the coaches. Depending on the duration of the meeting. Championship matches were held Saturday evening.

Taking first place in the tournament was Cheyenne East with a score of 342.0. Lyman was 14th with a score of 123.0. Mountain View had a score of 106.0 for 17th.

The host school, Evanston, was 20th with a score of 77.0. Big Piney brought up the tail end with a score of 30.0
