LYMAN – The Lyman High School PAC was the scene of the annual Bridger Valley Coalition of Churches community Christmas celebration on Dec. 14.

This year’s theme was “Keeping Christ in Christmas.”

The opening prayer was given by Ellen Shorma of Saint David’s Episcopal Church.

Emcee Pastor Joe Galvin of the Full Faith Assembly of God Church asked for a moment of silence in remembrance of the victims of the tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., that happened earlier in the day.

The community children’s choir, directed by Carrie Brumbaugh and accompanied by Kaye Wilson, sounded like the voices of angels when they sang “Joy to the World,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “Away in a Manger.”

Jim Eyre orated, “ Night before Christmas,” a poem about how our society has come to put an emphasis on shopping, credit card debt and the commercialization of Christmas, when the emphasis needs to be on celebrating the birth of Christ.

The Mountain View High School tuba ensemble, under the direction of Brian Redmon–trombone, Logan Parkinson-trombone, Aubrey Jorgensen-trombone, Tyler Andersen—baritone, Seth Parkinson-tuba, and Leonard Schluning-tuba, entertained the audience with “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

A “Letter from Jesus” was read by Pete Roitz.

The Community Coalition of Churches adult choir, directed by Ellen Walker and accompanied by Kaye Wilson, sang “Caroling, Caroling,” “Joy in the Morning” and “Mary did you Know.”

A Bible reading from Luke Chapter 2 was read by Mark Isom, Stake President of the LDS Church.

Members of the audience joined together for the ‘Entire Community Sing’ to sing “Silent Night.”

The closing prayer was given by Pastor Robert Timmons.

The Lyman High School FCCLA chapter members served cookies and hot chocolate and cider in the commons area after the performance.

The Bridger Valley Coalition of Churches includes The Full Faith Assembly of God Church, The Bridger Valley Baptist Church, The First Presbyterian Church, Saint David’s Episcopal Church, Saint Helen’s Catholic Church, Gateway Community Church and the LDS Churches.
