The Town of Mountain View would like to remind its citizens to winterize your home.
Make sure all your water pipes are protected from freezing, which includes your water meter under the house. Wrap your pipes and meter with heat tape and insulation to insure they do not freeze. Please do not put heaters under your home, it can be very dangerous. Make sure your foundation vents and access points are closed to prevent the cold wind from blowing in, this will help keep your home warmer. Frozen water lines are really inconvenient and can be very expensive to repair, a little time and effort now will pay off later.
The Town’s Public Works crews will be plowing snow. The town asks that everyone be patient and understanding. High use areas will be plowed first and crews will work their way out from there. Crews will do their best not to block citizens driveways. If crews do block your driveway and you are unable to clear the snow to get out, please call at Town Hall at 782-3100. Calls will be responded to in the order they were received. A town plow truck will be sent to assist you with your driveway.
As with all emergency vehicles, citizens are reminded not to pull up close behind a snowplow. The snowplow operator may have to stop and back up when pushing snow. If stopped at an intersection, they may turn the sander on or push snow in an unexpected direction. Visibility is very limited, the operator may not see you.
Remember that RV’s, boats, utility trailers and horse trailers are not to be stored on town streets, and during snow events citizens are reminded to move their vehicles parked on the street to allow the snowplow operators to clean the snow from those areas.
The Town of Mountain View hopes everyone has a safe winter and appreciates your patience and understanding during snow events.
