CHEYENNE – Fort Bridger State Historic Site will host a one mile hike/walk around the historic site again this year as part of the Wyoming Division of State Parks, Historic Sites and Trails New Year’s Day guided hikes.
The Fort Bridger hike will begin at 1 p.m. at the entrance booth. The route of the one mile walk will depend on the weather and staff will be on-hand to lead the way. There will be refreshments and the first 40 participants will receive a pin commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Wyoming's State Parks. There will be drawings for other prizes throughout the afternoon. The event will take place between 1-3 p.m.
This is the second consecutive year Wyoming residents can participate in the venues statewide.
The hikes are held in conjunction with similar hikes held in all 50 states; a part of the America’s State Parks First Day Hikes initiative.
Bear River State Park, Evanston, will also participate in the hikes. The hike at Bear River will include a short nature hike along the Bear River. Hike distance will vary upon participant’s abilities. The hike will begin at 10 a.m.
