Music soothes the soul

Posted: Tuesday, Feb 12th, 2013

Dear Editor

Our community has again been treated to some great experiences in music.

The first was the Folk Band from Moldovia. This was one of the offerings of the Uinta County Concert Series. The quartet played two familiar instruments – a violin and an accordion – and two very unique instruments – a timbalom and a panflute. What wonderul music they made. The audience was invited on stage to see these instruments; some even played the timbalom.

The Lyman High School presented the jazz band and swing choir on Thursday and gave a Pop Concert on Monday. Both programs were excellent and concluded with the band playing Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture complete with blasting "cannons" –great job, Enzo Khan!

Anyone who feels going out to a concert is not worth the effort has never experienced what our fine music department has to offer!
