LYMAN – At the council meeting on Feb. 7, the Lyman council discussed holding an All Bull Rodeo at the Lyman rodeo arena this summer.
Eldon and Janet Monson of EMJ Productions met with the council to discuss the event. The cost for the town to sponsor the rodeo will be either $12,000 or $13,000 depending on which liability insurance package the town chooses.
According to Monson, about 40 contestants follow the All Bull Rodeo circuit and will be participating. Local contestants are also welcome to enter in the event.
A Mutton Busting event for the kids will be included in the entertainment. A possible Aug. 10 date for the event was discussed.
Also included in the event is the Lane Frost Challenge. Proceeds from the challenge make it possible for EMJ Productions to offer a college scholarship to high school rodeo competitors.
The issue was taken under advisement.
The council also discussed July 4th celebration. They approved a $7,500 expenditure for the fireworks show, which will be set to music this year.
Mayor Andy Hewitt stated, “I would like to make that celebration bigger, in order to do that though, we’re going to have to amend the budget.”
