LYMAN – The boys from Mountain View and Lyman met up on the hardwood last weekend in an extremely close contest.

The boys battled to the bitter end where the Eagles were finally able to just beat out the Buffs, 62-58.

The Buffs were led in scoring by Austin Houskeeper, who racked up 15 points against the Eagles’ defense. He was followed closely by seniors Hayden Meeks with 12 points and Austin Henstra with 10. The team, as a whole, had 17 assists in what head coach Tony Micheli called a “team effort” where “everyone contributed.”

“It was a very fun game to be a part of,” Houskeeper stated of the matchup, “Our team fought hard but fell a little short. It was a great experience, and the only thing left to do is to keep working on getting better.”

The Eagles were led in scoring by Cisco Taylor, who racked up 27 points on top of his nine rebounds. Kyle Stokes followed with 12 points. Skyler Walker contributed an additional nine points, as well as pulling down the team high of 11 rebounds. Dalton Schofield also contributed eight points.

The 3A West Regional Tournament begins this weekend in Powell, and both the Eagles and Buffalos will be in attendance. The Eagles will enter the competition ranked third and played their first tournament game against Cody at 5:30 p.m. yesterday. The Buffs, ranked seven, faced Powell at 8:30 p.m. the same day. Results weren’t available at press time.
