MOUNTAIN VIEW – The Mountain View track team competed at the Wasatch High School Invitational last Saturday in Heber City, Utah.

Small in numbers in competing with a myriad of schools, Mountain View was able to capture some top places in the meet.

The field was awash in colors as teams from Wyoming and Utah competed in the massive meet. According to reports, the meet was the biggest athletic event ever held at Wasatch High School.

Madison Vitt competed in both the shot put and discus. In the shot put, Vitt threw almost three feet beyond her seed of 32-00.00 and nailed first place with a throw of 34-11.00. She bested the second place position by five inches. Vitt also took fourth in with a throw for a distance of 95-06.

Aubrey Newton also added points to the girls team score by taking seventh in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 50.73 in a field of 43. Newton also ran the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.65, which was slightly better than her seed.

Kam Dellinger added points to the girls team with a time of 28.13 in the 200 meter dash, a time which earned her eighth place out of a field of 70. Rachel Hofer also ran in the race and took 20th with a time of 28.74, slightly under her seed time.

The 4x100 meter relay team for Mountain View also added points to the team’s score. The team – Dellinger, Hofer, Jodi Flugel and Newton – took sixth out of 18 teams with a time of 52.97.
