LANDER – Strength, speed and stamina continued to be the lifeblood of the Mountain View track team at the regional meet last weekend in Lander.

Mountain View’s field is narrower than many of the larger schools, but their athletes continue to do well in individual events. The boys team placed seventh and the girls eighth.

For the girls, Aubrey Newton continued strong in the hurdle events. She took second in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 48.63 and fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time 17.13. Newton was a sure bet for state going into regionals as she originally prequalified at the Lyman Invitational at the beginning of the season.

In the 200 meter dash, Rachel Hofer added to the team’s score by taking sixth place with a time of 28.16. She also took fifth place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.46.

Runner Kam Dellinger also placed in the 100 meter dash. She took seventh with a time of 13.57. Dellinger also placed in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.12

The girls 4x100 relay team –¬ Dellinger, Hofer, Newton and Jodi Flugel ¬– took fourth with a time of 52.43 to add points to the Lady Buffs score.

Up in the air girl, Alyssa Sibelrud, made a big leap and tied for third with a height of 7-10.00 in the pole vault.

In the strength division, Madison Vitt continued to show her power in the shot put and discus. She took fourth in the discus with a distance of 106-04, almost three feet further than her seed. Vitt also place fifth in the discus with a throw of 36-07.75 for points for her team.

Newton, Vitt, Dellinger, and Hofer are all slated for state competition.

Kaylor Dolezal continued to add points for multiple events requiring stamina. He took third in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:42.29, trailing the #2 slot of 4:40.86. Dolezal also placed fifth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:18.43.

Caleb Flake took eighth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.34. He also took sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.94.

Levi Harmon took seventh in the 800 meter run with a time of 2L02.49, and Brennan Walk, eleventh with a time of 2:07.85.

Harmon also took sixth in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:50.09.

The boys 4x800 meter relay team – Dolezal, Flake, Harmon and Walk – strode into second place with a time of 8:25.22.

All four are headed to state to compete.
