LYMAN Veterinarians and vet technicians from all over Wyoming were in Bridger Valley June 14-15 for a spay and neuter clinic.

They performed surgeries on about 160 dogs and cats at the Lyman Police Department in Lyman during the two-day clinic. Animal owners were offered spaying and neutering at a reduced rate.

The spay and neuter Clinic was sponsored by the Wyoming Spay and Neuter Program. The program began in 2009. Since then, the organization has raised funds and been instrumental in spaying and neutering over 4,000 animals.

During the summer months, veterinarians with the organization travel to and donate their time in Casper, Rock Springs, Green River, Star Valley, and are trying to raise the $9,000 to sponsor a clinic on the Wind River Indian Reservation.

Because of the two clinics offered in Casper this summer, euthanasia is down by 50 percent, according to Doctor Heather Carleton.
