Colby Gull takes the reins of School District 6

LYMAN – Colby Gull, new superintendent for School District 6, said he is “excited to be in Lyman, to see the district reach new levels of success.”

Gull was raised in the central Utah town of Joseph. He was involved in football, track, choir, band, student council and drama in high school.

Gull attended Southern Utah University after high school where he walked on to the track team and found “I was not nearly as good as I thought I was. I returned to SUU after an LDS mission to Knoxville, Tenn., Gull said.

Gull earned a bachelor of science in elementary and special education. He taught special math at Cedar High in Cedar City, Utah, for five years. During this time, Gull earned a master's degree in educational leadership. Gull was hired as the elementary principal in Challis, Idaho in 2007. He said he served in that capacity for one year before being named superintendent of Challis Joint School District, a capacity in which he served for five years.

Gull said he has been married for 13 years, have five children (12, 10, 8, 6, 4) and three dogs.

He said he looked forward to and was excited about raising and educating his children in the Uinta County School District 6.
