LYMAN –Uinta County School District 6 is pleased to announce the construction of the new student and bus drop off areas are completed at Urie Elementary, according to district business manager Tony Gillies.
“The District feels this will enhance the safety for students when they are being dropped off for school and being picked up after school,”Gillies said. “By separating the different traffic flows where students are walking, being dropped off and being picked up, it will help decrease the chance of students not being seen and accidents happening with vehicles coming in and out of the area.”
The parent drop-off area is the area where the busses dropped off students last year. Parents can enter the area on Powers Avenue on the north side of the elementary building. Gilllies said the traffic flow will be one-way. Parents dropping off students are asked to move to the front of the drop are so the traffic flow in the area will work smoothly.
In addition, students shouldn’t be dropped off in the staff or public parking areas unless they are accompanied by their parents as they access the building.
The new bus drop-off area, Gillies said, is south of the current parking lot. This loop is only for buses to drop off students.
