EVANSTON – In the early morning hours on Sunday, Sept. 1, Uinta County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an assault in progress at 161 Joy Lane in Urie, and a 32-year old Lyman man was arrested and jailed.
Mathew Titmus was placed under arrest for the assault of the two and transported to the Uinta County Jail.
According to the press release by James Schmidt, investigator, Wednesday morning, a man forced his way into the residence, breaking the dead bolt lock and assaulted the two individuals inside.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they observed a male with blood on his hands, arms and clothing walking from the house to a vehicle parked in front of the residence.
The subject refused to stop, became uncooperative began to get into his vehicle after he was contacted by the deputies. The man refused to exit the vehicle after being told and threatened the deputies. He was then taken into custody and handcuffed.
Deputies spoke with the home owner, and the female resident identified Mathew Titmus as the individual who had entered the residence and assaulted her and her male companion.
Deputies observed the owner to have swelling to her left eye, as well as dark discoloration on the left eyelid and under the left eye.
Deputies also observed the male victim to have multiple injuries to his face and observed dried blood all over his face and clothing.
