Fort Bridger Elementary does community work for namesake

FORT BRIDGER—On Sept. 25 and Sept. 30, the third, fourth and fifth grade students from the Fort Bridger Elementary School participated in a service project at Fort Bridger.

Since this was the children's last year at that school, and since their school was named after the same person that the Fort was named after, they have always had a special connection to the Fort and us to them,” said Linda Byers, site director. ‘So, we arranged for the kids to help us with a much needed project, chinking the logs at the replica of Jim Bridger's Trading Post. This is something that is always needed as the elements tend to take a toll on the mud chinking.”

Byers said the site brought in clay and straw for the students to mix up and put in the cracks in the lots. The staff also provided hand-outs for the teachers on chinking.
