SHERIDAN—The cross country runners from the Lyman High School and the Mountain View High School finished their season at the state competition in Sheridan Oct. 26.
Mountain View’s Hannah Behunin, freshman, placed second at state with a time of 19:28.25. Behunin received both All Conference and All State titles in the 3A class.
3A girls champion was freshman Anna Gibson from Jackson with a time of 18:43, and 3A boys champion was Junior Cody Peck from Star Valley with a time of 15:56. The Star Valley boys team held on to the state title for the second year with 60 points, and the girls team from Cody took first with 47 points.
“I was proud of my team against a tough field of runners and tough course. We are a very young team and I look forward to the 2A level next year, and feel as a team we can be very competitive,” Lyman’s head coach Jason Hansen said.
Mountain View’s head coach Jim Dolezal said, “The boys team placed two spots up from last year. Everyone ran extremely well, and I am pleased. We will lose an important senior, Hugh Henry. He had a great year. The girls ran well and everyone ended on a positive note we are looking forward to next year and have some summer running programs in place.”
“I think a lot of the runners are excited to start training this summer for next season. I would like to thank all the parents for the support of the Lyman cross country team,” Hansen said.
