EVANSTONóJust over 16 pounds of high grade marijuana was seized from a Lynnwood, Wash., driver who was stopped on eastbound Interstate 80 approximately 45 miles east of Evanston in the Bridger Valley area.
The traffic stop, for following too close, was made Saturday, Nov. 2. Velasco Acosta, 23, has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance in plant form greater than three ounces, felony possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and felony conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance.
Highway Patrol K-9 "Hank" was deployed around the vehicle after the driver gave consent. "Hank" alerted to one of five odors of controlled substances he is trained to detect.
Troopers then searched the vehicle and found two duffle bags with 15 individual packages of marijuana. The marijuana would have an approximate street value of $97,380.00.
The illegal load of marijuana originated in Washington and was destined for the streets in a state east of Wyoming. Troopers and Special Agents with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation continue to investigate this case.
