MOUNTAIN VIEW – In a hard-fought battle the Mountain View Buffalos scored a slim 14-6 victory over the Thermopolis Bobcats Nov. 8, and will play in the championship game against the Big Horn Rams today at the War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, kick off is slated for noon.

“We are extremely excited to be headed to the championship game in Laramie, and we appreciate all of the support throughout the season,” head coach Brent Walk said after the win over Thermopolis. “These kids work hard and they are amazing, all the credit goes to them.”

Walk said, “Honestly, although things can happen along the way, I expected for us to be here. We set goals as a team after losing the first round playoff game last season. The kids worked hard in the off season and they are realizing the rewards of their hard work as we head to this championship game.”

The Mountain View Buffaloes have played in seven championship games since 1995. They brought home a title in 1995 with a win over Buffalo 27-0 and again in 1997 with a win over Thermopolis 29-9.

Mountain View goes into the championship game today with an 8-2 record and is second in the state for offense while Big Horn holds on to the number one offensive position and has a 9-1 overall record this season.

“Big Horn is a talented team. I watched film all weekend, and I feel like I know them. They are number one offensively in the state, and we are right behind them at number two so it will be a very interesting game,” Walk said.
