Reynold D. Bluemel June 9, 1943 – Dec. 1, 2013

SANTA CLARA, UTAH — Reynold D. Bluemel, 70, Santa Clara, Utah, died Sunday, Dec. 1, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 9, 1943, in Rock Springs to Lelan David Bluemel and Thora Rebecca Walker.

Reynold spent his early years in Lyman working on the family ranch. He graduated from Lyman High School. He married Eden Byrne; they had four children and later divorced. He worked in the oil field and construction industry. After a serious injury, he drove over the road as well as locally.

He married Shauna Lou Lloyd in 1985 and adopted her five children. They lived in Sandy, Utah, until 1998 when they moved to Santa Clara.

He reinstated the Dixie Company of the Mormon Battalion and served as captain for four years. He was a great sportsman, taking pride in his ability in tracking and hunting. His last wish was one more fishing trip.

He is survived by his wife, Shauna Lou Bluemel; his children: Mariette (Tyler) Boyles, Jack (Marianne) Bluemel, Natalie Bluemel, Ren (Sherry) Bluemel, Chuck (Melissa) Bluemel, Cameron (Samantha) Bluemel, Corey (Cindy) Bluemel, Chris (Katie) Bluemel and Heather (Jason) Christ; 29 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters: Marjorie Maxfield and Ethel Coates; brother, Rodney Bluemel; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lelan David Bluemel and Thora Rebecca Walke; sister, Maryette; and brother, Robert.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah, with viewings to be held at the same location, Wednesday, Dec. 4, 6 – 8 p.m., and prior to services on Thursday, 9 – 10:30 a.m.

A graveside service and interment will be Friday, Dec. 6, 1 p.m. at Crescent Cemetery, 11105 South State Street, Sandy, Utah.
