EVANSTON – The newest and latest way to illegally use marijuana is for a kitchen chemist to make marijuana wax.
Marijuana "wax" is more than 80 percent pure THC, which is the active ingredient in marijuana, compared to 20 percent to 30 percent in the marijuana leaves.
A 56 year-old resident of Virginia has been arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and felony possession of a controlled substance in plant form following a traffic stop 40 miles east of Evanston in the Bridger Valley area on eastbound Interstate 80.
Larry Betterton was stopped for a speeding violation on Dec.13, and was found to be transporting over 13 pounds of marijuana with a street value of approximately $80,040. Troopers also discovered four large patties of marijuana "wax" worth approximately $11,104.
Numerous vaporizers were also found with the marijuana wax.
