FORT BRIDGER — Donna Bindl was named the Wyoming Department Auxiliary Member of the Year at the state meet in Gillette on June 27.
Her contributions to the American Legion Auxiliary, Fort Bridger Unit 36 since 2012 earned her this recognition, according to Jerri Adkins, Auxiliary member.
According to the nomination form the Auxiliary sent to the state, Bindl had wanted to be a member of the Auxiliary for years. Bindl asked if she could join in June 2012 but had to wait until November 2012. Due to membership eligibility requirements, Bindl had to wait until her grandson started serving in the Air Force. Mission accomplished.
Prior to joining the Auxiliary, Bindl retired from the Uinta County Sheriff’s Office with other 30 years of law enforcement under her belt. She had worked hard in the community supporting the troops by donating her time and talents to different programs.
Bindl saw a need for a local organization to help with fundraisers and projects for the local troops from Bridger Valley and to ensure their families wouldn’t be forgotten while family members were actively serving.
