Varsity basketball season started in Valley

BRIDGER VALLEY — The Valley was hot with basketball action last weekend as the local schools hosted the Bridger Valley tournament, which was one of nine statewide.
This week, both schools hit the hardwood in the Flaming Gorge Classic, which will be held jointly by Rock Springs and Green River. Tournaments give teams practice on the hardwood and a chance to sharpen skills before the conference season kicks off.
Multiple teams hit the hardwood at Mountain View High School and Lyman High School last week. As host schools, these two didn’t face each other but played several times on their own hardwood. Other teams to compete in the tournament last week included Big Piney, Little Snake River Manila Utah, Lovell, Cokeville, Wind River, Farsn Eden and Uinta Utah
As for the girls teams in last weeks Valley tournament, 3A Mountain View tipped off against 2A Kemmerer on Thursday of last week. This was an easy win for the Lady Buffs as they scored a 29 point win, 56-27.
The Lady Buffs were back on the floor twice last Friday. Their first game was against 1A Farson-Eden. This proved to be another lopsided win as Mountain View took the win by 42 points. They were back on the floor against 2A Big Piney for a third big win of the tournament, 67-24.
In their final game of the tournament, the MVHS Lady Buffs scored win #4 as they outshot the Lovell Lady Bulldogs and took the win by 13, 56.43.
As for the 3A LHS Lady Eagles, They hit the hardwood against Rich County Utah in their first game last week on Thursday. This went in to the loss column for the Lady Eagles as Rich took the win by 17 points, 56-39.
The Lady Eagles dug in on their game Friday in which they met the Lady Bulldogs of Lovell. Lyman notched the win be 11 points over Lovell, 56-45. In their next game against 1A Cokeville, the wings of the Lady Eagles were again clipped as they lost the game by seven, 66-59.
In the boys division of the BV Tourney, the MVHS Buffs played 2! Kemmerer on Thursday of last week. The Buffs took the win by a healthy margin, 21 points, for a final score of 67-46. The Buffs were back on the hardwood on Saturday and went up against 1A Farson-Eden. This proved to be a hard fought battle that went down to the wire, and the Buffs lost by five in overtime, 55-50.
On Saturday, the Buffalos were faced the Lovell Bulldogs on the hardwood in their final game of the tournament. Lovell took the lead and put the game in their win column by 21 points, 62-43.
As for the LHS Eagles and their tournament games, they suffered three losses. The Eagles faced 2A Big Piney last week on Thursday. Big Piney took the win by 17 points, 52-35. On their second game of the tournament, Lyman met Lovell on the hardwood last Friday. The Bulldogs grounded the Eagles with a six-point loss, 52-46.
Back on the hardwood last Saturday for the Eagles final game of the tournament, the Eagles faced Uintah Utah. Uintah took the win by four points, 55-51.
