BVLL threw ‘ceremonial first pitch’ last Saturday opening the season

BRIDGER VALLEY — Sport season change and time moves on with youngsters being involved in other activities outside of school.

And, this year’s kick off for the Bridger Valley Little League (BVLL) was Saturday, June 3, with all local teams in all divisions scheduled to play on the diamond in the Mountain View Town Park.

This day included the ‘ceremonial first pitch’ of the season, a parade of the athletes, free hotdogs, chips and water for the players and a home run derby for the Majors and Seniors. Kids are divided into various groups by their ages.

This year BVLL expanding its league by adding a Junior/Senior League division, which is he next division of Little League after Majors. The Junior League is for boys and girls who are league age 12-14 (although 12 year olds will still play in the Majors division here), and the Senior League is for boys and girls who are 13-16.

Practice, since signups has been a little off due to the wet, rainy weather so teams have had to cancel some of their practices as a method of not damaging the diamonds. But, now it looks like the teams can hit the diamond to make the ball soar from home plate out to space in the field.

The kickoff took the cooperative effort of parents, coaches, players, vendors, the American Legion, board members husbands and kids, etc.

Winners of the Home Run Derby included Majors and Senior League players. They were: Age 9/10- Emmitt Irene, Age 11/12- Bridger Micheli, and Age 13+ Tanner Hansen.

Teams were also reminded to clean up the area after they play so it is clean for the next team.
