The Lyman High School track and field teams traveled to Powell over the weekend for the 3A West Track and Field Championships, with both teams placing eighth overall and turning in solid performances.

“The kids performed well,” said LHS head coach Dale Anderson. “I was very proud of their efforts at Regionals, and throughout the season.”

The two teams combined for six individual placers, led by the Eagles’ Dallin Bradshaw, who placed third in the triple jump (43’7.5”) and sixth in the long jump (20’2”); Bradshaw also finished 17th in the 100 meters (11.81).

Hugh Willie placed eighth in the triple jump (39’2.25”) to qualify for state; he also placed 17th in the long jump (17’4.25”).

On the girls’ side, Avery Thomas led the charge with podium finishes in both the triple jump, placing sixth (33’5.25”), and the long jump, placing seventh (16’.75”); she also finished tied for 10th with teammate Eden Smith in the 100 meters, posting a time of 13.64.

Lady Eagle hurdler Payton Anderson reached the podium in the 100 hurdles, placing seventh (17.97).

The girls’ 4x100 relay team of Falyn Youngberg, Payton Anderson, Avery Thomas and Eden Smith qualified for this week’s 3A State Meet with a third-place finish, posting a time of 52.37.
