Evanston, WY (Oct. 29, 2024)—Evanston Regional Hospital has announced that labor and delivery services will discontinue on Dec. 30.
Evanston Regional will continue offering women’s health services, such as mammograms, including 3D mammograms, gynecological care, hormone treatments, and 24/7 emergency delivery care. The hospital will also continue expanding its capabilities in the OR, surgical services, pain management, and cardiology, as well as offering new services such as a wellness infusion center and behavioral health services.
“While this decision was difficult, we remain committed to meeting the needs of our patients,” said Cheri Willard, CEO of Evanston Regional Hospital. “Over the years, we’ve experienced a steady decline in demand, with an average of six deliveries per month. Patients are choosing to give birth at nearby facilities, and we want to meet those evolving needs in our community.”
The following providers will continue providing women’s health, including annual visits, hormone treatments as well as pediatric and family practice:
We care deeply about our team members, and all OB staff members will be able to apply to other positions within the organization. Additionally, the hospital will help labor and delivery patients transition to nearby facilities.
“As a mom who delivered my own children here, I understand how important it is to feel supported when choosing where to give birth,” said Willard. “We will continue to offer women’s health services and help patients receive the care they need to transition to nearby facilities.”
Evanston’s ER physicians are board-certified, and ER nurses are trained in neonatal resuscitation.
