LHS Eagle tracksters impressed at a meet in Ogden

OGDEN, Utah — The Lyman High School track team competed at the Ogden Invitational last Friday and impressed.

Thee were 10 mens teams competing and 11 ladies teams. The Lady Eagles made a good showing taking third place, while the Eagles were lower on the bracket, taking eighth place. Overall, the LHS track teams took fifth place at the Ogden meet when the mens and womens scores were totaled.

According to LHS head coach Loren Huntsman Monday morning, the LHS team produced and the top track athletes were again on top. Discus thrower Joseph Turner set a new meet record at the Ogden meet. Also Lady Eagle Elena Jensen set LHS school records in both the 1600 and 3200 with almost 13 seconds to spare. In addition, Jensen took second place in the 1600 by 1.11 seconds off of first place and captured first place in the 3200. Lady Eagle McKinley walked away with three first place finishes, shot, discus and high jump. Bradshaw’ throw in the shot was 8½ inches better than the second place finish. For her first place finish in the discus, Bradshaw threw for 126-01, just shy of 14 feet father than the second place finish. Bradshaw also took fifth place in the 300 M hurdles.

When asked how he thought the teams were doing, Huntsman responded, “Considering not being on the track much or in the pits or rings I do think they are doing great.”
