LHS golf team competed at state golf meet

BUFFALO — The LHS golf team finished their fall season last weekend, Sept. 16-17, at the state tournament on the Buffalo Golf Course.
The tournament was hosted by Buffalo High School with 14 teams for the guys and nine teams for the girls. Lyman has only two girls out for golf so they don’t go as a team but still compete on the course. Those at the state tournament were Buffalo, Riverton, Lander, Douglas Evanston, Wheatland, Torrington, Worland, Cody, Lovell, Rawlins, Green River, Powell, Lyman and Pinedale.
The golfers were slated to play 36 holes of medal play in the two-day tournament . That was 18 holes in both days.
For the boys teams Riverton took first place with a two-day score of 638. Evanston was second with a score of 661. There were 73 males on the boys side of the tournament and one golfer from Powell, Eisaiah Woyak, didn’t score.
Lyman’s golfers and their places and two-day scores on the boys side included 52. Gavil Sill, 198; 54. Cope Thomas, 200; 57. Eben Moen, 202; 67. Gary Condos, 212; 72. Cody Hurdsman, 290.
On the girls side of the tournament, Erika Cook of Lovell took first out of 46 golfers by stroking a 156. Cook was the two-time defending girls’ champion. She won by 15 strokes last year.
Lyman’s two golfers on the girls side were in the middle of the pack. McKayla Berg was #23 with a two-day total of 222, followed by Michelle Jackson in a #29 with a two-day total of 229.
