LHS swimmers improving times as season nears end

LYMAN — The LHS Eagle swimmers competed last week at the Big Piney Invite with the team taking three first places in respective events.

Other schools at the meet included Evanston and Sublette County.

Last week proved to the half way mark for the Wyoming High School boys’ swimming and diving season. Teams are only one month away from the state championships in Laramie.

Today the Eagles will host the Lyman Invite with teams from Evanston, Kemmerer, and Sublette County hitting the water with the Lyman Eagles. Lyman will also compete tomorrow at the Kemmerer Invite against home team Kemmerer, Evanston, Jackson and Sublette County. Conference meets are next weekend, while the state championships are only three weeks away

Most of the 4A schools are headed to Laramie this weekend for a chance to swim and dive where next month’s state competition will be held.

At the Big Piney Invite last week on Thursday Mason Aimone took two first place finishes. Aimone took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2.36:32. He also took first place in the 100 Back with a time of 1:09.14, which was 2.5 seconds off his seed.

Eagle Evan Bentley took first in the 200 Free with a time of 2:17.31. He was followed in this even at third place by Trey Buckner with a time of 2:21.53.

200 medley relay: 3. LHS – Odin Eyre, Aimone, Spencer Cole, Stone Hooten – 2:12.82, about 18 seconds off their seed;

50 Free: 3. Hooten, 28.51;

200 Free relay: 2. LHS – Bentley, Buckner, Cole, Porter Swensen – 1:56.08, little over four seconds off of first;

100 Breast: 2. Bentley, 1:27.91, about 10 seconds off of first;

400 Free Relay: 2. LHS – Swensen, Buckner, Aimone, Bentley – 4:16.92;
