LYMAN — The LHS Eagle track teams competed at the Copper Hills Invitational in West Jordan, Utah, last week.

The Eagles, the gents, took 10th place out of 18 schools. Herriman (Utah) High School took first, Bingham second and Rock Springs 3rd.

The Lady Eagles didn’t fare as well as they took 14th place out of 16 teams. Overall, for the two teams together, Lyman took 12th place out of 21 schools, a respectable finish.

Saturday, April 6, Lyman was slated to compete at the Ted Schroeder Meet of Hope at Rock Springs. The Rock Springs Tigers will host Green River, Rawlins, Pinedale, Lyman, Mountain View, Big Piney, Kemmerer, Hanna, Farson, Saratoga and Wyoming Indian.

At the Copper Hills Invitational last week in West Jordan, some of the LHS athletes again proved they have the power to compete.

In the discuss and shot, Lyman Eagle Joseph Turner again showed his power by taking second place in the discus with a throw for 140-08 feet and third place in the discus with 44-00.00.

As for the Lady Eagles, distance runner Elena Jensen is continuing the LHS tradition of power in the distance runs. She took third place with a time of 5:20.67. First place in this event was claimed by a runner from Herriman High School who turned in a time of 5:20.67.

Jensen also took sixth place in the 800 with a time of 2:33.84 . The first place was captured with a time of 2:28.68, almost just a blink-of-the-eye.
