The Lyman High School girls’ swimming and diving team competed at the Evanston Invitational Saturday, placing sixth overall as a team, and turning in a number of solid performances.
The Lady Eagles were led by freshman Milly Bentley, who won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:38.84; she also finished 10th in the 100 breaststroke (1:24.12). Mountain View senior Eliza Roitz also had a memorable meet, placing fourth in both the 50 freestyle (27.97) and the 100 freestyle (1:03.42), posting 3A state-qualifying times in both.
Other notable performances included a fifth-place finish in the 100 butterfly by Avery Still (1:24.15), a ninth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke by Alanis Major (1:23.90) and a 10th-place finish in the 500 freestyle by Brooke Gossard (7:15.61).
In the relay events, the 200 freestyle relay team of Eliza Roitz, Milly Bentley, Avery Sill and Brooke Gossard placed third, while Alanis Major, Eliza Roitz, Milly Bentley and Brooke Gossard took fourth in the 200 medley relay (1:57.27).
