The Lyman High School volleyball team traveled to Rawlins over the weekend for the Sandy Jebens Invitational, posting a 2-3-1 record and advancing to the 5th-place match in the Gold Bracket, placing sixth overall.
The No. 5-ranked Lady Eagles opened the tournament with a 2-0 win over Wheatland (21-17, 21-19), but fell to No. 2-ranked Douglas 2-0 (21-15, 21-13) in Round 2. Lyman earned a spot in Saturday’s Gold Bracket with a 1-1 tie with Worland (21-14, 19-21) to close out Pool Play. Lexie Snyder and Karli Bradshaw led the Lady Eagles with five kills apiece; Lyndie Snyder followed with four kills, while Addison Smith and Eden Smith collected two kills each. Eden Smith had the team’s one ace in the match, while Addison Smith’s nine digs led the team. Lyndie Snyder finished with eight digs, while Amy Eyre and Eden Smith had six digs apiece.
The Lady Eagles opened Gold Bracket play Saturday with a 2-0 loss to Bridger Valley rival Mountain View (21-16, 21-14). Karli Bradshaw led the team with five kills, followed by two each from Addison Smith and Lyndie Snyder; Snyder also had the team’s only ace and block. Lexie Snyder and Addison Smith led the team with eight digs apiece, followed by six each from Eden Smith and Whitley Bradshaw.
The loss dropped Lyman to the consolation bracket, where they beat Glenrock 2-0 in elimination play (21-11, 21-17), and earned a spot in the 5th-place match.
Against No. 3-ranked Lovell for fifth place, the Lady Eagles fell 2-0 (21-14, 21-13) to finish sixth. Addison Smith led the team with three kills, followed by two apiece from Lyndie Snyder and Amy Eyre. Lexie Snyder had the team’s only ace, while Snyder and Eden Smith led the team in digs with eight each. Addison Smith finished with four digs, while Alexis Walker had two; Whitley Bradshaw, Lyndie Snyder and Karli Bradshaw had a dig apiece.
The Lady Eagles open conference play Wednesday at Mountain View.
