MOUNTAIN VIEW — Mountain View Elementary recently held its second annual Karen Abel Memorial Spelling Bee for 4th and 5th graders.
Abel was someone who loved teaching, and loved to celebrate academic success, according to Principal Bill Erickson. He said, “We utilized the format she used when she taught at Fort Bridger Elementary for this spelling bee. Eleven students made it to the final round, which consisted of a written and verbal spelling portion. Although students were nervous for the verbal portion with family and friends in attendance, they all did a fabulous job.”
Winners of the bee were Crosby Walker, first; Evelynn Cooley, second; and Patrick Roitz, third.
