MVHS’ Allred moves on to collegiate baseball

‘Passion on the diamond’

Posted

MOUNTAIN VIEW — Hank Allred, a senior at Mountain View High School, has committed to play baseball at Porterville College in Porterville, Calif., where he will continue with his passion on the diamond and begin pursuit of his college degree.

Allred played baseball with the Evanston Outlaws American Legion Baseball program since he was 12-years old, skipping his last year in Bridger Valley Little League to play up.

Allred has been the anchor behind the plate in Evanston and has had countless great memories and moments as an Outlaw over the years. At 13, he was with the Evanston B team that took runner-up at the Wyoming Legion B state championship in Sheridan 2018.

He has led the AA Outlaws over the last two seasons in caught steals, put-outs and home runs. A notable highlight was his role as a key-player and major contributor to the Outlaws' improbable run that ended with a team record-setting 3rd place at the AA Wyoming state championship tournament in Laramie in 2021.

Allred was team leader in nearly every category this past season, and was a 2022 Wyoming American Legion All-State selection.

He has played his fall ball over the past few years with the Southwest Wyoming Sandlot, where he has been a team mainstay as well.

Following the 2022 American Legion State Tournament in Sheridan, Allred joined the Logan Royals Collegiate team in Logan Utah, and he soon won the role as catcher. Allred’s skills behind the plate and his hitting turned heads at Porterville College, leading to his recruitment at the school.

Hank was recruited as Catcher and Utility, but Porterville has expressed interest in his pitching as well, so we may see him in the Pirates’ bullpen.

Porterville College is a JUCO in the highly competitive California Central Valley Conference.

Hank will be the first baseball player ever from Wyoming to play at Porterville College.
