MOUNTAIN VIEW — The MVHS Lady Buffs score again on the hardwood, while the Buffs notched another loss.

Seven weeks of the current season is on the books, with teams hitting the hardwood in conference play. As for Mountain View, they were supposed to have their kickoff conference game on Jan. 12 at Lander, but Mother Nature had a different plan for the teams. But, Mountain View did kick off their conference games last week on Friday in the Buffalo Dome against the Pinedale Wranglers.

This week on Saturday the MVHS Buffalo teams will go head-to-head against the LHS Eagle teams in the Eagle Lair.

MVHS Lady Buffs

The Lady Buffs stepped on the hardwood against the Lady Wranglers with the best record and also were ranked the top 3A team in rebounds with 41.2 rebounds per game.

Pinedale grabbed the ball after the tip off, but Addison Hickey blocked their first shot. Hickey set up and nailed a three putting the first three points of the game on the board for the Lady Buffs. This was followed by a three from Bowers for the Lady Wrangler. Bowers added two more points, and the Lady Wranglers led by two, 5-3. They added nine more points from the line and the 3-point court, while stopping the Lady Buffs from scoring. McKinlee Covolo put up two points for MV, but Lady Wrangler Wilson added two more for Pinedale.

The score at the half was 33 Pinedale, Mountain View 30. Mountain View had outscored Pinedale 17-10 in the second quarter.

The third quarter proved to be much of the same, with Pinedale maintaining a small lead over Mountain View as Mountain View. Both teams fought hard and tried to control the action on the hardwood with multiple trips up-and-down the court.

In the fourth quarter, Mountain View still trailed by four points, 55-51 with 5:45 left in the game.

Bowers aced a three, cutting Mountain View’s lead to two with 1.07 left on the clock. Mountain View had notched the win, 63-61, when the game ended.

MVHS Buffalos

The Buffalos have had a hard season so far this year with an overall score of 2-8. They were looking for their first conference win last week on Friday in the Buffalo Dome when they hosted the Pinedale Wranglers. The winner of this game would post their first conference game of the season.

With 15 seconds left in the first quarter, Pinedale intercepted a Buffalo pass, and Gosar added another three for the Wranglers. Pinedale led 15-5 at the end of the first quarter.

The second half proved to play out much as the first half with Pinedale on a run to increase their score with trips to the bonus line and well-placed threes. The Buffalos fought back but couldn’t fire up the baskets to knock the wind out of the Wranglers scoring. In the third quarter, the Wranglers added 24 points to their score while the Buffalos added eight points. The score at the end of the third quarter was 46-24.

The fourth quarter, like the rest of the game, proved to be high energy with multiple trips up and down the court. The Wranglers maintained control, and the Buffalos fought back.

Both teams added a point from the bonus line then Mountain View aced a basket and then a three by Bridger Lake, putting five points on the board for the Buffalos in the last minute of the game. The final score was 63-37.
