MVHS’ indoor track team off and running

Posted

MOUNTAIN VIEW — The MVHS Buffalo indoor track team headed to Provo, Utah, last week to compete at the BYU HS Indoor Invitational at Smith Fieldhouse.

Other Wyoming teams participating at this huge, prestigious meet included Evanston, Green River, Mountain View and Star Valley.

Mountain View Buffalos’ Owen Burnett was second in the boys' 2-mile. Track fans who follow the Mountain View track program know Burnett signed to run track at the University of Wyoming following last year’s outdoor field and track season. Burnett, a student at Kemmerer, runs for Mountain as Kemmerer doesn’t field an indoor track team.

In addition, Jaylee Antonino of Mountain View was 4th in the girls' high jump, coming in after Valerie Jirak of Star Valley who took second in this event. Antonino also was 12th in the girls 60 hurdles and 13th in the 400 M.

Other top contenders from southwestern Wyoming include Jasmine Tapia from Evanston who took 4th in the girls' 2-mile, and Green River's Amanda Davis was 3rd in the girls' weight throw. Dillon Davis of GRHS was runner-up in the boys' weight throw.

Other male runners from MVHS who were a presence at the meet included Nathan Howard who took 6th in he 60 hurdles and Tayden Bell, 9th in the 800; Kellis Taylor, 14th in the 200.

Mountain View’s 4x321 Relay – Hunter Petty, Nathan Howard. Kyler Copeland, Kellis Taylor – took third place.
