MVHS tracksters competed at Timpanogos

OREM, Utah — The MVHS track and field team was one of three Wyoming teams to compete at the Timpanogos track meet last Saturday in Orem, Utah.

The other Wyoming teams included Kemmerer and Evanston. In addition to a bevy of teams from Utah, there was a team from Dayton, Idaho.

Mountain View, as par the course, had tracksters who made marks at the meet. Hurdler Jayee Antonino again proved to be one-of-the-best. She took fourth place in the 100 hurdles and sixth in the 300 hurdles with times of 15.89 and 47.09, respectively.

Other girl track athletes coming out in the top 15 include jumpers, vaulters and the shot put . Mya Hutchings took second place in the high jump by soaring over 5-1, which was only two inches off of the first pace finish. Antonino also placed fourth in this event.

Vaulter Mylie Micheli who was at the top of the state in 3A girls last year claimed a second place finish with a vault of 9-6. This included a two way tie with a vaulter from Lehi, Utah. Grace Whiting came in at eighth place with an 8-6, on a tie with a vaulter from Kemmerer .    

Power athlete for the girls MVHS team McKinlee Covolo took second place in the shot with a heft of 33-2.25. Teammate Kate Walker took 13th with a throw of 30-04.00.

As for the boys team, Carson Eardley took third in the 200 hurdles with a time of 40.31. Eardley also took third in the pole vault with a 12-0, which was a tie with Cameron Hiatt of Evanston. Isaac Linford took 10th place in this event for the MVHS Buffs with a 9-0.

Dane Branson also earned a mark in both the shot and discus. He took second in the shot with a throw for 48-10.5 and was the third place finish in the discus with a 136-4.

Two of the MVHS relay teams also placed in the top 10. The 4x400 relay team took fourth with a time of 3:36.02, and the 4x800 relay was 10th with an 8:49.99.
